Frequently asked questions
If you can't find your answer here, you are very welcome to get in touch.
What does Therapy with Direction mean?
Therapy with Direction means that we start from what matters to you. You may come with a specific challenge, a recurring pattern, a life crisis or simply a sense that something in your life no longer feels right. Together we find a focus for the therapy and keep following up on what is changing and what you need. You don't have to know the direction from the start — we can find it together.
Do I need a specific problem to start therapy?
No. You don't have to be in crisis or be able to explain exactly what is wrong. Perhaps your life works well on paper, yet you still don't feel truly happy. Perhaps you want to understand yourself better, sense your own needs more clearly or find out why certain patterns keep repeating. That is an entirely valid reason to go to therapy.
How long does a course of therapy last?
It depends on what you bring. Some want to work with a specific issue over a shorter period, while others want more time for personal development and deeper self-understanding. With me, therapy is not meant to continue indefinitely. We keep returning to your direction and what you want to get out of the therapy. When you feel you have got what you came for, we can bring the process to a close. You are always welcome back if something new arises.
How often do we meet?
That depends on you and your process. Many benefit from meeting regularly, for example weekly or every other week, especially in the beginning. Together we find the rhythm that makes sense for you and for what we are working with.
How long is a session?
I offer sessions of 75 minutes. Longer sessions allow more time and depth and can, by agreement, also be combined with for example walk & talk or meditation by the water on Orø.
What happens in the first conversation?
The first conversation is both about what you bring and about sensing how it is for us to work together. We talk about what is on your mind, what you hope to get out of the therapy and which direction could make sense. You don't need to have prepared the perfect explanation. We begin where you are.
Are our conversations confidential?
Yes. What you tell me in therapy is treated confidentially. I am a psychotherapy student and work under ongoing professional supervision as part of my training. Supervision helps ensure reflection, professional development and quality in my therapeutic work.
Are you a fully qualified psychotherapist?
Not yet. I am a trained wellbeing therapist and I am in my third year of the four-year psychotherapy training. In addition I am training as a body therapist. I therefore offer training therapy under supervision, and my prices reflect that I am still in training.
How do you work?
I work holistically and integratively. That means we can be curious about your thoughts, emotions, relationships, patterns and the signals of your body. For me, therapy is both about understanding yourself and sensing yourself. I am actively present in the conversation and do not work from one single method. We start from you, from what you bring and from the direction that makes sense for you.
Is therapy also relevant if I have a demanding working life?
Yes. That is in fact an area I have a particular understanding of. I have many years of experience from international business myself, including Regulatory Affairs in the pharma and medical device industry, and I know a working life with high demands, responsibility, deadlines and performance. You can be capable, ambitious and high-functioning — and at the same time experience stress, restlessness, a lack of joy, difficulty with boundaries or the feeling of never quite being able to switch off.
What if we are not the right match?
That is completely fine. The relationship between client and therapist matters. That is why we use the first contact to sense whether it feels right to work together. If the chemistry isn't there, it doesn't mean that something is wrong with you or with me — some people simply work better together therapeutically than others.
Can I have therapy in English?
Yes. I offer sessions in both Danish and English, and I have an international background myself, speak several languages and have lived and worked across different cultures.
Can we meet online?
Yes. You can choose between sessions at my practice on Orø and online. Online therapy can be especially practical if you live far away, travel a lot for work or prefer to have the conversation from home.
Where is the practice located?
My practice is on Orø in Isefjord, surrounded by nature, water and calm. Orø is closer to Copenhagen than many people think, and the journey to the island can also create a natural transition from a busy everyday life into the therapy. You can read more under Clinic on Orø.
Can we go outside during the session?
Yes, by agreement. Some longer sessions can take place fully or partly as a walk & talk in nature on Orø. Nature, movement and water can make it easier for some people to slow down and get in touch with what is on their mind. Of course it has to suit you and what we are working with.
